Troubled Times

I know, I know. It's been ages since I've posted. I blame complications in my personal life, and a complete inability to process the negative news inundating the country these days. Had I been of a mind to post over the past week, I don't know where I'd have started. There's the increasing toll of the tsunami, which I've briefly touched upon already. The rapidly deteriorating situation in Iraq, where a successful and legitimate election January 30th seems to be all but an impossibility. There's the Congressional hearings of AG appointee Alberto Gonzales, who paved the way for sanctioned American torture, and the placidity with which Americans (except the AARP, god save 'em) seem ready to accept the gutting of Social Security, at a cost of trillions in additional debt. Markets are down, the Wolfpack dropped two in a row, and I'm sick, because the goddam weather won't decide whether it should be 70 or 40.

What to do? Je ne sais pas. So instead of doing the intellectual footwork required of a real post, I'm copping out today and engaging in a bit of self-promotion. If I've been particularly neglecting of my political screeds, it's because I've been devoting much thought and time to the development of my new musical project Falls of the Neuse. So, pleasant Friday, enjoy your weekend, and visit our site if you get the chance...here.
